 In a world where the layer between physical and spiritual is constantly at risk, there exist those who fight against the monsters that would crash through the barrier to sow chaos and destruction. These monsters are so otherworldly and inconceivable to the regular human mind that they are automatically parsed as cute/sexy boys and girls. Yanno. As you do. Special academies train warriors to combat the monsters, specifically protecting the Dungeon Masters who would venture into the deepest part of a monster hive in order to strengthen the veil. "Dungeons" refer to any place where energy corrodes the veil, and can be found in many different forms. The most common are caves, forests and cities abandoned once monsters began to break through.There also exists a newly-discovered class of people, Monster Tamers, who have the ability to bind monsters to the physical world for as long as their lifespan permits. These tamers are in short supply and rather valuable, as tamed monsters (referred to as "pets") are indispensable in the fight against other monsters. Providing that these monsters find true attachment to the physical world, they may even become permanently bound. Lutece is a rank-climbing Dungeon Master. At eighteen years old, considered an unbeatable prodigy, Lutece was assigned a fifteen year old Monster Tamer, Kannin Briske, in the hopes that their similar ages would make them a more powerful team. Seeing as Lutece already has a best friend/guardian and Kannin seems only capable of recruiting female monsters or mercenaries with a penchant for overactive behavior and clinginess, well... their cohesion as a team could be better. Much better. |
